A well-built scaffold is quiet reassurance — you step onto it and it simply feels solid. Here is what separates a professional install from a risky one.
1. It does not move
Properly tied and braced scaffolding has almost no sway, even at height. Movement means missing ties or inadequate bracing.
2. Full, gap-free platforms
Boards are secured, butted tight and free of trip hazards. There are no awkward gaps to step over.
3. Guardrails and toe boards everywhere they should be
Every open edge above two metres has a top rail, mid rail and toe board — no exceptions.
4. Safe, purpose-built access
You reach each lift by a proper ladder or stair tower, not by climbing the frame.
5. A current scaff tag
A visible tag shows the scaffold has been inspected and is safe to use — and when it is next due.
If any of these are missing, stop work and call a professional crew for an inspection.
