A scaffold plan is the tool we use to help safely plan and manage scaffold work and identify ways to protect people. Having an effective plan before starting a scaffolding project is crucial for an efficient project as well as helping to eliminate potential health and safety risks.

Scaffold planning and design requires a determination of the design loads and the capability of the structure to support any additional loadings. Scaffold plans address important matters that can include consideration of foundations, ground conditions and loadings, supporting structures, access and egress, tying and bracing, the type of scaffold to be used and edge protection requirements.

Designs will also take into consideration the location of existing underground drains or pits and avoid excavating new trenches that could in any way destabilise the scaffolding.

If the scaffold design solution is outside standard specifications, drawings may be required.
